Apparent Murder-Suicide Leaves 1 Student Dead At Rice University

A student at Rice University in Houston, Texas, was found dead in her dorm room in an apparent murder-suicide, causing the campus to go into an almost two-hour lockdown as students finished their first day of classes, according to police and university officials.

A middle school teacher in Houston has been hailed as a hero for saving the life of a 15-year-old girl who was the victim of an attack and attempted sexual assault. The teacher had confronted the man and scared him off while yielding his gun.
