U.S.-Led Forces Kill 20 Islamic State Militants, Capture Others in Syria

As the push to drive out ISIS from the Middle East continues, U.S.-led forces kill more than 20 militants in Syria. The director of the coalition says a clash near a key U.S. base in the country on Wednesday led to the death of the Islamic State fighters. The U.S.-led forces, along with its Syrian partners, were also able to capture a number of militants.

Iraq Claims War On Islamic State Is Over

Iraq says its war on the Islamic State is over, after more than three years of combat operations. During a conference in Baghdad on Saturday Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi announced the country’s forces are in full control of its border with Syria. The border zone was the last area held by extremists following a series of defeat over the past two years.
