Texas legislature passes 2 critical bills during special session

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is holding a special legislative session to address a variety of issues important to Texans across the state. The special session began July 8 and legislators are set to debate matters, including bail reform, election integrity, border security, social media censorship and others.

GOP lawmakers move to block CRT training in military

Republican Sen. Tom Cotton (Ark.) announced legislation to stop military officers from teaching critical race theory. At a Republican dinner on Friday, Cotton said CRT was an anti-American idea that only focused on skin color and opposed the foundations of the democracy.
