A bus has crashed on Interstate 95 in northern Maryland, killing one passenger and injuring 23 others.
Maryland State Police stated that on Sunday around 6:00 a.m., the bus was carrying 24 passengers when it lost control and struck a guardrail on I-95 in Harford County.
According to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, emergency calls regarding the crash of “a party bus” in the northbound lanes of the interstate, just before the MD-542 exit, started to come in at around six in the morning.
At the scene of the incident, one passenger was killed, the driver was injured, and the other 22 passengers were also hurt and were taken to the hospital.
According to a Facebook post shared by the volunteer fire company, 10 people were transported to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake in Bel Air, eight people were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, and five people were taken to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Aberdeen.
The cause behind the bus’s loss of control was not immediately clear. No charges were filed right away.
I-95’s northbound lanes were blocked during the investigation, but they have already been reopened, according to the police.
Local fire departments, in addition to Maryland state troopers, Maryland Transportation Authority police officers, and Harford County sheriff’s deputies, all responded to the scene of the incident.
