South Korea: Officials Request Arrest Warrant For Impeached President Yoon Following Martial Law Fiasco

South Korean law enforcement officials requested a court issued warrant on Monday for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol, in an attempt to detain the former president while investigating whether his December 3rd martial law decree was an abuse of authority — amounting to rebellion.

South Korea’s Acting Leader Impeached Following President Being Ousted

South Korea has voted to impeach their acting President and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo just less than two weeks after ousting the country’s previous leader.

Following South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s disastrous effort to implement martial law this week, two U.S. sources told Reuters on Thursday that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin no longer intends to visit South Korea.

South Korean President Declares Martial Law, Citing Threats Of ‘Anti-State Activities’

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law Tuesday in an unannounced late-night address broadcast live on YTN television, stating he would get rid of “shameless pro-North Korean anti-state forces.”
