U.S. and NATO military officials are assessing potential security guarantees for Ukraine following a meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which the two leaders discussed next steps toward ending Ukraine’s war with Russia.

European leaders and Zelensky push for Ukrainian security guarantees during WH meeting

President Trump met with Ukrainian President Zelensky and other European leaders on Monday in the East Room of the White House, following his Friday meeting with the Russian president. As the nations work toward a peace agreement, the back-to-back talks highlight a renewed diplomatic effort to halt the killing.

Pope Francis, who was considered a reformer that altered the Catholic Church’s traditional views and inspired progressives, has died at the age of 88, the Vatican announced Monday.
