YUMA, ARIZONA - MARCH 09: In an aerial view, a U.S. Border Patrol agent searches for immigrant footprints while looking through the U.S.-Mexico border fence on March 9, 2024 in Yuma, Arizona. Although new arrivals have dipped since the beginning of the year, officials expect the numbers to grow, as migrants cross the desert before the dangerously hot summer season. The border between the two nations stretches nearly 2,000 miles, from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean and is marked by fences, deserts, mountains and a river that runs through most of it. The politics and controversies surrounding border and immigration issues have become dominant themes in the U.S. presidential election campaign. (Photo by John Moore/Getty Images)
