Scientists claim that when it comes to the Saffir-Simpson scale, which gauges a hurricane’s wind speed, storm intensity is reaching never-before-seen levels. Researchers are now beginning to question the scale and are requesting that a new, higher threshold of risk be established for the most gruesome storms.

At least 13 people have died in a big thunderstorm that left the whole city of Bahia Blanca, Argentina, without electricity and hundreds evacuated.

A cargo ship has sunk near an island in Greece, leaving 13 crew members missing and one rescued.

UPDATE: Hurricane Otis Leaves 27 Dead In Mexico, Category 5

At least 27 dead and four others are now missing after Hurricane Otis hit Acapulco, a city on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, making landfall as a Category 5 hurricane.

Hurricane Lee Increases To Powerful Category 5
