The U.S. Senate failed for the sixth time to pass a stopgap bill to end the government shutdown on Wednesday, which has now entered its second week.

Senate remains gridlocked as shutdown enters new week

The government shutdown continues on its fifth day, with little progress made as Democrats continue to hold out in an attempt to repeal the Trump administration’s prior spending cuts and restore Obamacare subsidies.

Leavitt warns government shutdown is ‘likely’ to trigger thousands of federal layoffs

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has warned that the recent U.S. government shutdown will likely lead to thousands of federal layoffs — pointing to Democrats’ refusal to work with the GOP — which the administration maintains prompted the shutdown.

Government shutdown likely to last until Friday

The federal shutdown will extend at least until Friday, as lawmakers are still at an impasse over a government funding deal.

Senate fails to pass funding bills to end shutdown — again

For the second time in 24 hours, Senate Democrats blocked a House-passed stopgap spending bill that would have funded the government and ended the ongoing shutdown.
