Pompeo makes stop in Colombia, Costa Rica to discuss regional cooperation

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently met with member’s of Colombia’s military force to provide them with funding. On Tuesday, he met with injured military personnel and announced a $1 million project to improve their ability to find successful careers. After stopping in Colombia, Pompeo headed to Costa Rica where he called for Venezuela and Nicaragua to hold free and fair elections.



U.S. cancels charter flights to Cuba with exception of Havana

The U.S. is sharply reducing flights allowed to Cuba in an effort to reduce revenue to the communist government. On Friday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced a cancellation of all charter flights to Cuba with the exception of capital city Havana. This comes after the U.S. terminated commercial flights to Cuba late last year.


Venezuela National Assembly opts not to reelect Juan Guaido

New reports out of Venezuela said Juan Guaido, the internationally recognized interim president of the country, has been ousted as the leader of the opposition assembly. The news came after Guaido sought endorsement from opposition lawmakers and attempted to unseat Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
