Parents suing OpenAI allege its AI bot ChatGPT intentionally relaxed safety guardrails, contributing to their son’s suicide

In California, the parents of a 16-year-old boy who committed suicide have amended a lawsuit against OpenAI, claiming that the company’s AI chatbot, ChatGPT, played a role in their son’s death by relaxing safety protocols surrounding discussions of self-harm.
