A bipartisan bill called the “No Pay for Congress During Default or Shutdown Act” has been introduced by Representatives Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.). The bill aims to withhold Congress members’ salaries during a breach of the debt ceiling or a suspension in federal financing.
