For The First Time, A Transgender Wins Miss Maryland Beauty Pageant

Bailey Anne became the first transgender to win the Miss Maryland USA contest. Anne becomes the first transgender to hold the title, along with being the first Asian-American and the first “military officer’s wife” to represent the state.

Florida 12-year-old Bruhat Soma Wins 96th Scripps National Spelling Bee

12-year-old Bruhat Soma of Florida won the 96th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday night after defeating all seven other finalists and beating his final competitor in the competition’s second-ever spell-off.
