During a violent, off-campus high school fight that was captured on video and has since gone viral online, a teenage girl in Missouri had her head repeatedly pounded into concrete, prompting a seizure and leaving her hospitalized.

According to St. Louis police spokeswoman Vera Clay, the fight involving the teenage victim—whose full identity has not been made public due to her age and who has only been referred to as “Kaylee”—started at a crossroads just north of Hazelwood East High School on Friday at about 2:30 p.m. local time.

Devastating videos of the altercation that have been shared online show a group brawl, where two girls are seen punching and pushing each other until one of them throws the other to the ground.

The attacker is seen beating the victim and calling her a “b*tch” while the victim tries to push the assailant away. Meanwhile, bystanders can be heard saying, “Damn,” while one of the girls straddles the victim and continues to repeatedly smack her head into a concrete road.

Soon after, the victim is seen on the ground, squirming and what appears to be having a seizure. Additionally, no bystanders near the victim appear to help or check up on her during the purported seizure.

According to Clay, when police officers arrived, they discovered that the girl did in fact have a serious head injury and needed medical attention as soon as possible.

Fox 2 reported that the victim was then transferred to a nearby hospital and was said to be in critical condition.

A 15-year-old unidentified individual, presumably the girl depicted in the video, was later arrested on suspicion of assault after students who witnessed the incident spoke with police. Some surfacing reports have named the assailant as 15-year-old Maurnice DeClue. However, this claim has not been fact-checked and remains alleged.

“Bullying and fighting in the community is an issue for which we all need to take ownership and work towards a resolution for the sake of our children,” school officials said in a statement. “The Hazelwood School District offers our sincerest condolences to everyone involved and will offer additional emotional support from our support and crisis team to those in need.”
