A Maryland mom of four was found dead over the weekend. It is reported that she was found naked and that she had been brutally beaten to death.

On Wednesday, Harford County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Jeffrey R. Gahle of Harford County stated that the 37-year-old’s body was discovered earlier this week, and that she was so mercilessly beaten that the right side of her face was missing.

On August 5th, Morin was last spotted leaving the Maryland town of Bel Air and beginning the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail. According to authorities, her boyfriend filed a missing person’s report that evening when she didn’t arrive home.

Around 1:00 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s office received a call about the discovery of Morin’s body off the trail. Her body was discovered by the trail and identified by the responding officers. Her car also was found near the trail.

Reportedly, her body was found by a friend of Morin who was volunteering and helping in the search with her step father, Michael Gabriszeski.

Gabriszeski appeared on an interview where he describes seeing a gruesome scene.

“I saw a terrible mess,” he told the outlet. “There’s not going to be an open casket, I can guarantee you that.”

However, the Sheriff department has reportedly said how he “did not find Rachel or witness her body” and “has no first-hand knowledge of the crime scene.”

Richard Tobin, Morin’s boyfriend, finally spoke out on Sunday in a Facebook post after online users speculated that he might have been involved in her murder.

“I love Rachel, I would never do anything to her, let the family and I grieve. Yes I have a past but I also have 15 months clean and have changed as a person,” Tobin said.

According to Maryland court records, Tobin has been detained many times before for charges including violence, restraining order violations, malicious destruction of property, and other offenses adding up to 26 counts.

Despite this, he has not been identified as a suspect in the death of his girlfriend or charged with any other additional crimes.

“One question we have continued to get centers around whether we have interviewed the boyfriend in this case,” the sheriff said in a statement. “The answer is yes, we have, along with many other people who are close to Rachel.”

Rachel’s family is relying on each other and the public for support as the police continue their inquiry into her passing. As “there was no life insurance in place,” her sister Rebekah Morin set up a GoFundMe page to assist her mother Patty Morin with funeral expenses.

Considering Morin’s death might have been a random act of violence, authorities are advising the public to be on alert. Officers also say they are doing everything in their power to solve this crime.

“Together, we will solve this crime and find the heinous coward who took Rachel Morin from her family and friends,” Ghale said.

A suspect has not been identified by investigators. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 410-836-5430.
