Referring to Kamala Harris’s impending CNN interview with her running mate, Minnesota Democrat Governor Tim Walz, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders suggested that Democrats think Harris “needs a babysitter” in order to follow through with her debate promises.
“It’s clear that her own team and her own party think she needs a babysitter,” Sanders (R-Ark.) said on Wednesday. “And that’s why they’re putting her vice presidential nominee on the stage with her, so that he can step in and answer questions if things go like the clips we just saw, like she has done in previous interviews.”
Many Americans have questioned whether Harris is even capable of handling presidential responsibilities or if she can live up to her promises and meet expectations without guidance or supervision. At the DNC, political commentators who asked attendees about their favorite accomplishments by Harris were often met with a blank stare or silence.
Harris and Walz (D-Minn.) will participate in a joint interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, which is scheduled to run on Thursday, the network recently announced.
There have been increasing demands for Harris to participate in interviews as she has risen to the top of the Democrat presidential ticket. Detractors maintain that her continuous “dodging” is no longer acceptable and that she needs to step up and face the music.
“This isn’t even a tough interview. This is on CNN,” Sanders said.
In a few weeks, Trump and Harris will also square off in a debate on ABC News. The former president said on Tuesday that his team and hers had “reached an agreement,” despite Harris attempting to alter the “muted microphone” rule.
“We have also been given assurance by ABC that this will be a ‘fair and equitable’ Debate, and that neither side will be given the questions in advance,” Trump said.
