President Donald Trump has announced that he will meet with New York City mayor-elect Zohan Mamdani at the White House.
On Wednesday evening, the president announced via Truth Social that the two will have a meeting at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st.
“Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran ‘Kwame’ Mamdani, has asked for a meeting. We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday evening. “Further details to follow.”
The communist mayor-elect and President Trump have long been outspoken critics of one another, making their meeting a surprise to many.
“If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home, because of the fact that, as a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success, or even survival!” Trump wrote on Truth Social two days before Election Day.
Mamdani first revealed plans to speak with the president last week. He stated that having a good relationship with the White House is “critical to the success of the city.”
“I will be reaching out to the White House as we prepare to actually take office because this is a relationship that will be critical to the success of the city,” he said last week.
