Wall St climbs after jobless claims data spurs rate-cut bets

The main U.S. stock indexes rose on Thursday and renewed hopes that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates this year.

Wall Street’s main indexes crept higher in volatile trading on Monday as shares of Tesla and Apple advanced.

Alphabet jumped 10.8% to a record high after the Google-parent announced its first-ever dividend.

Some megacap growth stocks edged higher in early trading, with Meta Platforms, Amazon.com and Apple up between 0.6% and 1.5%.

Wall Street’s main indexes rose on Wednesday, boosted by megacap growth stocks and as corporate results rolled in.

A Labor Department report showed the PPI for final demand rose 0.2% in March, against forecasts of a 0.3% increase.
