House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has officially accepted GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson’s invitation to hold a public debate — as the government shutdown enters its third week.

Speaker Johnson: Congress is ‘barreling toward one of the longest shutdowns in American history’

GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson suggested that the government shutdown may become the longest in U.S. history — unless Senate Democrats finally agree to pass a “clean, no-strings-attached” Republican spending bill to reopen the government.

Senate remains gridlocked as shutdown enters new week

The government shutdown continues on its fifth day, with little progress made as Democrats continue to hold out in an attempt to repeal the Trump administration’s prior spending cuts and restore Obamacare subsidies.
