First Republic bank fails

First Republic Bank was taken over by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on Monday with JPMorgan Chase as the buyer.

Treasury says U.S. will hit the debt limit ‘as early as June 1st’

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has announced on Monday that the deadline to raise the debt ceiling or risk an American default could be as early as June 1st.

Illinois dust storm causes 40-60 car accidents

At least 40 to 60 vehicles collided along a busy roadway in Central Illinois on Monday as a result of a dust storm, officials have reported.
