The United States Pentagon announced that it has sent the USS Georgia guided missile submarine towards the Middle East as they anticipate a broader regional war between Israel and Iran, along with Iranian proxy groups.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also announced the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, equipped with F-35C fighters, to help assist in the transit of the USS Georgia, which was confirmed on Sunday.
“Secretary Austin reiterated the United States’ commitment to take every possible step to defend Israel and noted the strengthening of U.S. military force posture and capabilities throughout the Middle East,” said a Pentagon readout of a conversation between both Austin and Israeli Defense Secretary Yoav Gallant.
The increase in security follows the assassination of Iranian proxy leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Fuad Shukr.
Haniyeh, one of the leaders of Hamas, was killed in Tehran on July 31st by an Israeli bomb which was previously smuggled into his guest house.
Additionally, Hezbollah senior commander Fuad Shukr was assassinated in Beirut, Lebanon, on July 30th, purportedly due to an Israeli airstrike. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has threatened “severe punishment” for the assassinations.
Cease-fire talks between Israel and Hamas have also been iffy, with every escalatory action harming the possibility of regional peace. The escalatory tensions stem from October 7th, when Hamas terrorists entered Israel, killing at least 1,200 and abducting 250 hostages.
The number of dead Hamas members is unknown, as there are discrepancies between Gaza’s Health Ministry, since it is controlled by Hamas, and the IDF’s numbers.
The IDF stated that they had been targeting a Hamas command center that was embedded near a school in the most recent Israeli strike.
“Numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians,” the IDF stated.
Meanwhile, anti-Israel Middle Eastern news outlets claimed that Israel was viciously targeting women and children.
Intelligence reports on Hamas leaders previously revealed evidence that the terrorists in Gaza have no regard for any human life, hiding out in enclaves next to schools and even underground beneath hospitals to make retaliatory Israeli airstrikes appear more cruel. Leaders of Hamas have stated that their terrorist group will carry out its objectives as long as other countries continue condemning Israel.
A Wall Street Journal report, citing stolen messages, stated that the top Hamas leader in Gaza, who assisted in planning the terrorist attack on October 7th, acknowledged that he personally saw all Palestinian civilian deaths as “necessary sacrifices” in order to continue the group’s war efforts against Israel. Yahya Sinwar also informed Ismail Haniyeh that the killings of his sons and other Palestinians in Gaza will only “infuse life into the veins of this nation, prompting it to rise to its glory and honor,” according to the outlet.
