Iranian proxy forces launched two-simultaneous counter-attacks at American forces in Syria. The attacks injured at least one United States service member.
U.S. officials said that an Iran-backed militia fired a rocket at the Conoco Gas Plant on Friday, leaving one U.S. troop wounded but in stable condition.
Around the same time, several drones were launched at Green Village where U.S. troops are also based.
No injuries were reported there. All but one of the drones were shot down.
In an online statement Friday, pro-Iranian forces in Syria said it will take the “long arm” to respond to further U.S. strikes on their positions.
The Iranian Advisory Committee in Syria stated that they have the capability to respond if they are targeted.
This comes after the United States retaliated a deadly drone attack on a coalition base in northeast Syria.
The DOD said President Biden authorized precision airstrikes by F-15 jets in Eastern Syria on Thursday against facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic revolutionary guard. Two of the American strikes reportedly killed at least eight Iranian fighters.
The targets were not directly related to the drone itself, but were targeted by the U.S because they were known to be supporting Iranian-proxy groups in Syria with munitions and intelligence.
On Thursday, an Iranian-affiliated one-way drone killed one American contractor and wounded five U.S. troops.
On Friday, President Biden told reporters in Canada that he doesn’t want a conflict with Iran, but that he’s prepared to take forceful action to keep U.S. troops safe.
