President Donald Trump was featured at a CNN town hall hosted by Kaitlan Collins in New Hampshire on Wednesday.
Many of the subjects and questions that were brought up focused around the events of January 6th 2020, the verdict in the E. Jean Carroll case, and the war in Ukraine.
Collins blamed the events on January 6th on the President and asked him why it took him so long to communicate his desire for everyone to go home, repeating the claim by Democrats that the 45th President was responsible due to his lack of action.
President Trump then told her that he had not waited and had actually taken to Twitter to tell his supporters to remain peaceful and respect law enforcement. The President had gone so far as to bring out printed copies of the tweets during the town hall that he had posted that day to debunk any false claims against him.
The President reiterated once again that he had told his supporters to remain peaceful, and that he had asked for the national guard to be deployed days in advance in case of violence. However, Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who was serving as Speaker of the House at the time, had rejected his request.
The subject was changed to the economy and an attendee then asked the former President about the economy and rising prices.
“If elected president again, what is the first thing you would do to help bring down the costs to make things more affordable?” she asked him.
The president answered and said “drill, baby, drill.” Before going into detail.
When Collins proceeded to ask the President about the verdict in the recent E. Jean Carroll case, and what he would say to voters who say the verdict disqualifies him from being president. Trump answered and said that the story was completely false and that he did not know who she was.
When the subject of the war in Ukraine was brought up, Collins pressed Trump on whether he wants Ukraine to win the war, he answered saying he wants the war settled so that people would stop dying.
“I don’t think in terms of winning and losing. I think in terms of getting it settled so we stop killing all these people,” he said. “I want everyone to stop dying. They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians.”
Reiterating once again that once he gets elected, he can put an end to the war within 24 hours, and said that the United States has already spent more money on the war than necessary.
After the townhall concluded, Representative Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) appeared on CNN and responded to the issues that were brought, getting into a heated debate with CNN commentators and hosts Anderson Cooper, Van Jones, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
“Town halls are for the voters, not for the press or the person who is the moderator,” Donalds said. “Kaitlan spent more time interjecting her own viewpoints or her own views on the situation.”
Donalds slammed the CNN hosts for focusing their attention on past events and not mentioning and discussing current issues that are affecting the American people on a daily basis.
“Most voters are frankly kind of tired of y’all,” Donalds told the panel when the subject of the 2020 election came up again.
