President Donald Trump knocked “rigged” polls, claiming that his “real” job approval rating nearly a year into his second term is 64%.
“The polls are rigged even more than the writers,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.
“The real number is 64%, and why not, our Country is ‘hotter’ than ever before,” he argued. “Isn’t it nice to have a STRONG BORDER, No Inflation, a powerful Military, and great Economy??? Happy New Year!”
Trump included a photo of himself from the Republican National Committee in the post, which the GOP had shared on X earlier in the day with bold text that read, “Over 50% of voters approve of President Trump.”
Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ), had the president’s approval rating polling average sitting at 44.1%.
However, InsiderAdvantage reported that 50% of potential voters approve of Trump’s job performance, while 41% disapprove and 9% are undecided.
InsiderAdvantage surveyed 800 likely voters between December 19th and 20th in a mixed-mode poll (including texts and cell-phone calls) with a margin of error of 3.46%, and called the approval “fifty-percentile area.”
InsiderAdvantage pollster Matt Towery noted that Trump’s approval had hovered at or above 50% and dipped in a November survey before climbing up again.
He also explained that the improvement could be seen across several demographics, including younger voters and female voters, but “most importantly, independent voters.”
An AP-NORC poll released earlier this month found that eight in 10 Republicans approve of Trump’s job as president, showing his enduring influence on the GOP.
Trump has touted his efforts on the economy since the COVID-19 pandemic and former President Joe Biden’s four years in office. Inflation has recently been reported to be lower than expected, with the consumer price index (CPI) falling to 2.7% rather than the projected 3.1%.
