Two young children were ejected from an overturned Jeep during a catastrophic traffic collision on the Eastex Freeway, U.S. Route 59, in Houston, Texas, as shown in a horrifying video that went viral on social media.
The accident prompted a contentious discussion about child car safety and brought up important issues related to seat belts and car seat usage.
Although the children seem to have been miraculously unharmed, not much information is available regarding their current state of health.
An eyewitness posted the video of the accident’s aftermath on Facebook.
The video showed two seriously damaged cars and a Jeep that had flipped in the middle of the road. The sight of two young children—still in their diapers—walking through the debris after being catapulted from the car is the most startling scene in the video.
A hysterical man then rushes in the direction of the kids. He could have been a parent or another adult involved in the collision. It is unclear.
The footage implies that the Jeep may have lost control, flipped over, and ejected the two children. However, the authorities have not yet disclosed all the specifics of the collision.
Thankfully, the kids do not seem to have suffered any severe, obvious injuries from the collision. However, it is unknown if they experienced internal damage or other issues.
