On Thursday, Greene (R-Ga.) unveiled the resolution. She accused the Democrat of making “treasonous” statements and of being a foreign agent over her recent remarks regarding Somalia.

The resolution specifically takes issue with Omar’s (D-Minn.) comments vowing to protect Somalia’s interest from inside the U.S. government. It suggested that she would intercede in U.S. policy on the Somali government’s behalf.

While speaking on her measure on the House floor, Greene stressed that every member of Congress must adhere to the oath they made when they were sworn-in.

Greene’s censure resolution also seeks to remove Omar from the House Budget Committee and from the House Education and Workforce Committee.
