Pelosi (D-Calif.) won her 20th term in California’s 11th district and is set to return to Congress. She defeated GOP candidate Bruce Lou.

In 1987, Pelosi was the first woman to be elected as U.S. House speaker.

Pelosi, 84, has led House Democrats since 2003.

She reportedly played a key role in the efforts to pressure President Joe Biden to withdraw from his candidacy for re-election in 2024, paving the way for Kamala Harris to step in after acquiring enough delegates.

Pelosi represents a district that covers most of San Francisco, where she lives with her husband Paul.
