A viral video has been circulating the internet depicting a cruise ship beginning to flood, with one passenger describing it as “absolutely terrifying.”

On October 17th, a water line ruptured on a Carnival Cruise Line ship called Carnival Radiance, resulting in parts of the vessel flooding.

The cruise ship was on its way to California’s Santa Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico, according to Cruise Mapper. The flooding took place only one day after the ship departed on October 16th.

A TikTok user by the name of “dawn7877” shared a video this past weekend that portrays the flooding in and around one of the cruise ship’s cabins. The video shows the carpet soaked in water, as well as shoes and other personal items.

“At 2 a.m. we were woken up by water gushing into our room from the ceiling on the Carnival Radiance,” the user’s caption read in part.

In the footage, the room appears to be dark and a person in the distance can be heard saying, “We have no power out here.” Later in the video, water is seen flooding from the ceiling in the hallway, plummeting on to the floor as crew members attempt to clean the area.

The TikTok video has accumulated almost 230,000 views as of Tuesday.

Carnival Cruise Line’s spokesperson Matt Lupoli made a statement in an email explaining what occurred during the incident.

“The incident affected an area of the ship that accounts for less than two percent of its staterooms,” Lupoli wrote. “The ship’s team members cleaned the area and the pipe was fixed.”

The shocking video was enough to startle several social media users. Many users quickly made references to the Titanic.

“The way I thought this was a literal Titanic experience museum or something at first,” wrote one user.

“I see that I’m going straight to the main deck, life jacket on just in case. I’m not getting stuck behind one of their gates,” said another.

This occurrence is not the first time a flooding has happened on a Carnival ship.

In May, video footage was shared to social media portraying flooding hallways and staterooms on a Carnival Sunshine cruise ship after the vessel faced drastic weather. Additionally, in 2018, a fractured water line on a Carnival Dream cruise ship left hallways and cabins overflowed.
