United States Democrat Representative Jamaal Bowman, who represents the Bronx and Westchester County in New York, promoted what many would consider conspiracy theories regarding the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks while working as the principal of a public high school.

Bowman (D-N.Y.), who is a member of the liberal House “Squad,” which includes Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), had a personal blog in which he asserted that the hijacked Flight 93 and Flight 77 caused “little damage” and left “little debris” behind.

Additionally, he mentioned that the World Trade Center building Number 7 was destroyed in a “controlled demolition.”

The blog posts, which were exhumed by the left-leaning outlet Daily Beast, were allegedly shared before 2014 during the time that Bowman served as principal at the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action in the Bronx.

According to the outlet, Bowman “published poems and brief essays there on personal, political, and pedagogical concerns through 2014.” However, he deleted the posts by 2016.

The blog poem, which was composed of 137 lines of free verse, begins as a remembrance of global events before delving deeply into reflections on various September 11th, 2001 theories.

These theories typically center on the idea that the attacks were not terrorist attacks, but rather, were performed by other parties in order to prompt the United States into its “war on terror.”

Bowman, 47, alleged that Osama bin Laden, a Saudi native, was “blamed” for the 9/11 terrorist attack as an “excuse” to engage in war in Afghanistan. However, bin Laden had claimed open responsibility for the massacre back in 2004.

According to investigators at the scene during that time, Building 7 collapsed when fire from the Twin Towers ignited, and hijackers utilized the plane from Flight 77 to crash into the Pentagon in Virginia, killing all 64 occupants of the aircraft and 125 inside the building.

After the passengers retaliated against the hijackers, Flight 93 crashed in a rural Pennsylvania area. There were 44 people onboard that died on that flight.

Once Bowman’s “conspiracy theory posts” were revealed, he stated that he now denied his past claim. He also said in a statement on Monday that he “regrets” his posts and does not think those conspiracies are true.

“Well over a decade ago, as I was debating diving into a doctoral degree, I explored a wide range of books, films, and articles across a wide swath of the political spectrum and processed my thoughts in a personal blog that few people ever read,” Bowman said.

“I don’t believe anything that these cranks have said, and my life’s work has proven that. As a Congressman, I’ve written a Congressional Resolution condemning a dangerous conspiracy theory, I’ve stood up to MAGA extremists, and I’ve called out the endless bulls–t of the far-right,” Bowman continued. “I regret posting anything about any of these people. Anyone who looks at my work today knows where I stand.”

Every entry from the blog was erased sometime before February 2016, however, one of the 137-line free verse pieces from May 2011 that was saved in the archives was labeled as “Recapitulate.”

Bowman has consistently honored the men and women who died from the September 11th, 2001, terror attacks since entering Congress in 2021, however, he has never mentioned anything regarding the narratives he favored in “Recapitulate.”

“Today we remember the thousands of incredible lives lost in the 9/11 attacks. The fear, uncertainty, and trauma still live with us today,” Bowman said on X (Twitter) in September last year. “We must also acknowledge the intense Islamophobia and hatred that followed, commit to doing better, and learn from our mistakes.”
