IDF Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari has told reporters that the Israeli Air force “continues to operate at full capacity, and tonight will also continue to strike powerfully in the Middle East, as has been the case for the past year.”
“The Israeli and US air defense systems operated effectively. There was close cooperation in detection and interception,” he said in response to the Iranian attack of 180 missiles on Israel.
“We are still investigating [the result of the attack] and do not want to give the enemy all the information,” Hagari says.
“Iran carried out a serious act tonight and is pushing the Middle East to an escalation. We will act at the place and time of our choosing, in accordance with the guidance of the political echelon,” he continues.
“Tonight’s event will have consequences,” Hagari adds.
This comes after almost 200 missiles were launched into Israel on Tuesday night by Iran, causing over 1,800 rocket sirens sounding across the Jewish State.
A White House spokesperson said that the U.S. military aided Israel’s defense against the Iranian attack and helped shoot down missiles targeting Israel.
According to the IDF, few citizens had been injured in the missile barrage, with multiple missiles intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system.
Iran announced that the attack was in response to the assassination of Nasrallah, stating if Israel responded, it would experience a decisive blow.
