E. Jean Carroll Jokingly Invites Rachel Maddow On $83M Shopping Spree With ‘Trump Money,’ Offers Penthouse

E. Jean Carroll Civil Trial Against Donald Trump Continues In New York
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JANUARY 25: E. Jean Carroll arrives for her civil defamation trial against former President Donald Trump at Manhattan Federal Court on January 25, 2024 in New York City. Days after winning the New Hampshire primary, former President Trump is scheduled to testify in his civil defamation trial after it was adjourned for several days due to a juror with an illness. The trial is to determine how much money in damages the former president must pay Carroll after public comments that he made both while he was president and after the jury’s verdict in May. Carroll was awarded $5 million in damages in May from the previous lawsuit. (Photo by Michael M. Santiago/Getty Images)

E. Jean Carroll jokingly invited MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on a shopping spree and even mentioned buying her a penthouse with the money that she is set to receive from former President Donald Trump.

On Monday night in an interview, Carroll was questioned about her previous claims that any money she would receive from Trump would be used to “help shore up women’s rights.”

“Do you know what that might be, what that might look like?” Maddow asked.

“Yes, Rachel! Yes!” Carroll responded. “I had such, such great ideas for all the good I’m gonna do with this money.”

“First thing Rachel, you and I are gonna go shopping!” she announced in a “joking” manner. “We’re gonna get complete new wardrobes, new shoes, a motorcycle for [Carroll’s attorney Shawn] Crowley, a new fishing rod for Robbie [Carroll’s attorney Roberta Kaplan]- Rachel, what do you want? A penthouse? It’s yours, Rachel! Penthouse and France? Do you want France? You want to go fishing in France? No?”

Carroll’s attorney, Shawn Crawly, also joined her in the interview but became visibly uncomfortable after Carrol made the declaration regarding the things she could now purchase. Crawly even quickly cut off Carroll and chimed in, saying: “that’s a joke…”

“Although if me fishing in France could do something for women’s rights. I would take the hit. I would take one for the team,” Maddow said.

Carroll stated in a different interview on ABC on Monday that she would spend the money on something that Trump “hates,” also referring to the former president as “just something in a suit.” Carroll further claimed that she did not find him intimidating whatsoever when she saw him in court.

Carroll continued, saying in the interview that the case had “moved beyond me” and that her current focus would now be opposing Trump’s policies, like his chosen nominations to the Supreme Court.

“It’s now about fighting for all women. We’re also fighting, and we salute the women and men who have been assaulted and who did not survive. We are doing this for women around the country, who have been knocked down repeatedly. So it’s really not about me anymore. We have moved beyond me,” Carroll said. “And as you say, the fight now is really to take back our future. This is a man who stacked the Supreme Court, took away women’s rights over their own bodies. We would like to be a part of turning our eyes to the future and taking back our rights.”

Carroll had filed a defamation lawsuit against Trump for remarks he made back in 2019 that refuted her claims of rape.
