The United States has announced that another aid package will soon be sent to Ukraine.

According to the White House on Tuesday, the U.S. will send the Eastern European nation another $300 million worth of “much-needed military equipment.”

The last aid package was sent to Ukraine a little over two months ago.

The aid package includes anti-aircraft missiles, ammunition, artillery rounds and “some anti-armor systems” from U.S. stockpiles, according to senior defense officials at the Pentagon.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden still has congressional authority to send Ukraine another $4.4 billion worth of military aid from U.S. stocks. However, Congress has not approved funds to replace any weapons sent without the passage of a $95 billion supplemental spending bill, which includes roughly $60 billion for Ukraine.

“In this case, we are not digging the hole deeper – we’re staying even – while recognizing that Ukraine is in a very tough spot this moment,” one official said. “This is not necessarily an easy call, but you’ve got a situation where we are short on funding – they are short on ammunition.”

“We have an opportunity here to do something, but it doesn’t change the fact that we still have a hard problem and we need to – have to – act,” the official added.

Additionally, the Ukrainian military claims that it has been struggling without receiving consistent aid from the Biden administration the past two months.

“Artillery resolves the main problems – they can provide cover for the our infantry in battlefield because it is very precise and we can destroy enemy infantry some vehicles like tanks,” A Ukrainian commander told the New York Post. “It saves the lives of our soldiers.”

Officials also stated that they are “confident” that enough votes in the House will come through to secure even more funding for Ukraine. However, Republican officials, led by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), have continued to fight against the bill, citing an emphasis to first fix the crisis at the Southern border.
