Dallas police have issued an arrest warrant for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice and another man in connection with a chaotic six-car crash that took place last month.
The 23-year-old Chiefs wide receiver and another unnamed 21-year-old man will each face one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury, according to the Dallas Police Department.
According to police, neither man was in custody as of Wednesday evening.
Last month, Rice was reportedly speeding while driving a Lamborghini alongside a Chevrolet Corvette. However, both cars eventually lost control, causing a multi car accident on a Dallas highway.
Dallas police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said that “the Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder and hit the center median wall, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles (six vehicles total involved),” she said. “The occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette all ran from the scene without stopping to determine if anyone needed medical help or providing their information.”
Lowman also stated that four people from other vehicles were treated for injuries.
Last week on social media, Rice posted a statement where he explained that he takes full responsibility for his involvement.
“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident,” he wrote.
Rice was selected in the second round of the NFL draft last year, he had 79 catches for 938 yards, and led the team with seven touchdowns.
In the Chiefs playoff run to another Super Bowl, he tallied another 26 catches for 262 yards and one touchdown. His play helped the Chiefs and superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes win their third Super Bowl in five years.
Previously, Rice played college football at Southern Methodist University in the Dallas area.
