New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) is the latest Democrat to debut an awkward new dramatic southern accent when giving her speech during the first day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

“I, for one, am tired of hearing about how a two-bit union buster thinks of himself as more of a patriot than the woman who fights every single day to lift working people from under the botts of greed, trampling on our way of life,” AOC proclaimed, as she wagged her finger for dramatic effect.

The new fake southern accent came over Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) during her seven minute speech at the DNC, which drew criticism on social media, as people commented on her performance.

“AOC busted out her fake accent tonight… This is just… bizarre,” one user wrote on X.

“AOC uses the ‘fake’ Hillary Clinton & Kamala Harris southern Black accent!” another user commented.

The southern accent has been utilized by many Democrat officials in the past in an attempt to pander to southern voters.

Recently on the campaign trail, Vice President Kamala Harris had also adopted a southern accent for a speech in Atlanta, Georgia.

“And you all helped us win in 2020, and we gon’ win in 2024,” Harris stated, in a southern drawl.

AOC’s speech was one of many which helped kick off the first of the four-day DNC event. It is set to include speeches from former President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, and presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
