Federal charges filed against accused assailant in fatal N.C. train stabbing of 23-year-old Ukrainian girl

The disturbed man accused of fatally stabbing a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee on a Charlotte Area Transit System train in North Carolina last month has finally been charged with a federal crime. The purported crime was caught on video footage — provided by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS).

House to vote on repealing Iraq AUMFs after Freedom Caucus members break from GOP leaders

The House is poised to vote on an amendment to repeal two long-standing Authorizations for the Use of Military Force (AUMFs) in Iraq. This comes after three members of the House Freedom Caucus broke with GOP leadership on the Rules Committee this week.

Israel warns Gaza City residents to evacuate ahead of IDF’s planned ground assault

The Israeli military has issued a full evacuation order for all residents of Gaza City, and the directive precedes a planned ground offensive aimed at seizing control of the city — which Israel identifies as Hamas’ key stronghold.

Appeals Court: ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ may continue its immigration operations

A federal appeals court has cleared the way for the Florida immigration detention center “Alligator Alcatraz” to continue operating while a legal challenge against the state and the Trump administration proceeds through the courts.
