Tesla CEO Elon Musk has thanked President Donald Trump following his first public appearance at the White House since their public feud earlier this year.
On Tuesday night, the White House hosted a black-tie dinner for Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), where Musk was seen “breaking bread’ with other leaders in the technology, finance, and energy industries in the East Room.
Tesla, as a company, made its way into the Saudi market in April, as it hosted a launch event at the Bujairi Terrace. Musk also previously met MBS at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum in Riyadh this May.
The event marked what seemed to be a significant development in Trump and Musk’s relationship, which has thawed since their public breakup over Musk’s disapproval of Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill.”
Musk previously served as a special government employee (SGE) in the Trump administration, overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He argued that Trump’s bill would add trillions to the already enormous national debt the U.S. is saddled with, which would undermine DOGE’s efforts in cutting government spending.
Musk floated the idea of forming his own political party in response to his back-and-forth with the president. However, his proposed “America Party” did not take off.
The president and the SpaceX CEO have toned down their criticisms of each other in recent months, even speaking face-to-face at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in September. Trump also said in October that he had spoken “on and off, a little bit” with Musk, calling their relationship “good.”
“I like Elon,” Trump told reporters at that time. “I’ve always liked him.”
On Wednesday, Musk posted photos of himself near Trump at Tuesday night’s event, leading his social media following to believe he may be ready to set aside his differences with the president.
“I would like to thank President Trump for all he has done for America and the world,” Musk wrote on X.
