The second young victim whose life was tragically taken as a result of the Annunciation Catholic School shooting has been identified as 10-year-old Harper Moyski.

The victim’s parents, Michael Moyski and Jackie Flavin, remembered their daughter as being “a bright, joyful, and deeply loved 10-year-old whose laughter, kindness, and spirit touched everyone who knew her.”

“Our hearts are broken not only as parents, but also for Harper’s sister, who adored her big sister and is grieving an unimaginable loss. As a family, we are shattered, and words cannot capture the depth of our pain,” their statement read.

Moyski’s parents went on to urge leaders and local communities to “take meaningful steps to address gun violence and the mental health crisis in this country.”

“While our immediate focus is on Harper and our family’s healing, we also believe it is important that her memory fuels action. No family should ever have to endure this kind of pain,” the statement continued.

“Change is possible, and it is necessary — so that Harper’s story does not become yet another in a long line of tragedies,” the statement said.

Two children were fatally shot during the Catholic students’ 8:15 a.m. Mass on Wednesday. The shooter, who identified as a transgender woman, killed himself after opening fire on the kindergarten-through-eighth-grade school. Nineteen others were also injured during the incident.

In addition to Moyski, an 8-year-old boy named Fletcher Merkel has been identified as the other victim in the shooting.

According to authorities, 15 children between the ages of 6 to 15 were injured during the attack. Three adults, all in their 80s, were also hospitalized after being injured while attending Mass at the church.
