France’s President Emmanuel Macron is ordering a law to foil efforts to disseminate false information during electoral campaigns. In a New Year speech to journalists, Macron said he is ordering a new “legal arsenal” whereby news outlets must reveal their owners and where their money comes from.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s foreign ministry said on Thursday that moves by Alphabet Inc’s Google to place articles from Russian news outlets Sputnik and Russia Today lower in search results
The outlet responsible for a majority of government-backed Russian media in the U.S. has offically registered as a foreign agent. The Russian publication known as RT or Russia Today filed their registration on Monday, and will now be branded as the product of a foreign government.
