Surgeons at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston have successfully transplanted a genetically modified pig kidney into a living man for the first time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, the hospital announced that the procedure had been the first successful of its kind in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital have successfully completed the world's first transplant of a genetically modified kidney from a pig into a living human.

The patient is Rick Slayman, a 62-year-old man who was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease.
