Efforts to lower the cost of prescription drug prices are gaining steam in Congress. The Senate Finance Committee will focus its first hearing of the year on developing legislation that can be turned into law with bipartisan support.

Chairman Chuck Grassley is a strong backer of free-market principles. He said we need to create real solutions to bring down drug prices instead of allowing the government to take over health care.

Grassley is currently working on legislation to increase competition in the drug market.

The hearing is scheduled to take place next Tuesday on the same day the Democrat-led House Oversight Committee will also meet to discuss the issue.
