The House Democratic Caucus chairman slammed John Bolton ahead of the release of his book on his time in the Trump administration.
In an interview Sunday, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) called Bolton a “political opportunist and profiteer.” He added that Bolton had plenty of opportunity to testify during the impeachment inquiry, but instead waited months to publish a book.

His remarks come as multiple lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have condemned the former national security adviser’s upcoming memoir. Rep. Jeffries said Bolton “ran and hid” during the impeachment inquiry.
“He had the opportunity to step forward and participate in the House impeachment inquiry and share any information that he had about wrongdoing by President Trump and other members of his administration and he declined,” said the New York Democrat.
White House officials have also put down Bolton’s promotion of his book and some have even said they believe he should be put in jail.
