President Trump said his administration is “absolutely moving forward” with putting a citizenship question on the census, and dismissed reports claiming it is not.

In a tweet Wednesday, he called reports about the Department of Commerce dropping it’s bid to add the question “fake news.” He also said the administration must move forward with adding it because of its dire importance.

This comes after Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced Tuesday that the Census Bureau was in the process of printing the questionnaires without the citizenship question. Ross’s announcement came after the Supreme Court ruled the question could not be on the census last month. The high court said it needed further explanation on why the question needed to be added.
