United States First Lady Jill Biden has given the best indication on whether President Joe Biden will be running for a second term as president of the United States.

During her five-day trip to Africa, the First Lady sat down for an interview with The Associated Press while in Nairobi. During the interview on Friday, she said that everything is set, as there is “pretty much” nothing to do but to set the time and place for the announcement that her husband will run for a second term.

The First Lady was then asked whether she has input in her husband’s decision making. She replied by saying that he has always listened to her advice, but he has the final say in any decision that he would make.

“Of course he’ll listen to me, because we’re a married couple,” she said. “He makes up his own mind, believe me. He says he’s not done. He’s not finished what he’s started. And that’s what’s important.”

Throughout his tenure at the White House, the sitting president had constantly hinted at running for a second term.

As an effect, the 80-year-old was faced questions and concerns about his ability to run for a second term. If he did succeed, then the question arose about his ability to perform his duties while in office.

Aides within the Biden administration have hinted that an announcement will likely come in April. This would be around the same time of year former President Barack Obama had announced his plan to run for a second term when he was in office.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre admitted earlier in February that the president intends to run a second term. When pressed on if an official announcement was coming soon, she said that she is limited by the HATCH Act, but that the president has said many times that he intends to run.
