WATCH: Rural Poverty Skyrockets in the U.S.

December 6, 2017
OAN Newsroom

Some areas in the U.S. have yet to recover nearly a decade after the recession.

One America’s Kendra Sitton has the report.

  • Emzie Mcqueen

When an if ever will this wrong be corrected? Animals right, illegal aliens rights, anything and everything but American citizens rights, this is why we severed, sacrafice our self well being, and this is why so many have died for what they believed to be true., all the time sold a bill of bull, heart breaking to return home.

  • Thomas Henricksen

Almost all this “skyrocketing” occurred prior to Mr. Trump in office

  • Jenny O

The headline made me think this was a recent development from our current administration. Of course, no surprise that President Trump strives to instead help rural communities, after 8 years of liberal policies hindered recovery.

  • hjole

lets see, 2210 rural hospitals have closed since ’10, hmmm, Obastardcare have anything to do with it. Be honest when answering yourself.

    • TexanForever

Obastardcare, … has a nice ring to it.
      .

  • Bob BTW

One of the reasons for poverty in rural areas is because no one wants the products that come from there, which are far and few between, mostly focused on removing the natural resources that are wanted and needed to support the office workers of the cities.

If you want a simplified view watch Little House on the Prairie show and understand the boom and bust cycle of the 1870’s & 1880’s. Corporate control of infrastructure, mass production and unshackled corruption were in control back then, even as they are today.

Some people would rather have a strong faith in God and be poor, but happy, than be dragged around by the psychology of the modern consumer culture that dominates society. Many of those folks live in rural areas away from the beehives of large cities. Which do you choose?

    • Jenny O

I love “Little House on the Prairie” reruns! ☺
Substantive, meaningful uplifting stories about folks of admirable strength of character in caring communities, so unlike today’s programs glorifying violent, vulgar lifestyles of perverted and criminal behavior.

      • Bob BTW

Perhaps you can answer this question I have.
When I make comments and use Little House as an analogy women usually seem to come back with a positive response.
Many time comments that seem to come from men are negative, derogatory, or smart alek ones.
Why do you suppose that is so often the case?

        • Harvey Gamel

Men and Women are both extremely stupid..??????

          • Jenny O

No, not all men are like you. Most women definitely are not.

        • Jenny O

I have no idea. Maybe those men never actually watched it?

  • Sui-Juris

Not against bringing back coal but we should first update all coal fired plants to the latest clean coal technology. This is not an opportunity to be lost, and or dumped at the feet of the next generation to resolve.

  • Beachguy53

Anyone ask the question, isn’t the cost of living in a rural community a lot less?

    • Harvey Gamel

the only things that aren’t cheaper are controlled from Washington DC

    • KMA

Unfortunately not, because you’ve captive audience who don’t go beyond a certain distance (2mi. usually).

Do this …go to the suburbs, city and a rural grocery stores and then tell me.
I’ve done this… suburbs are the cheapest , some cities and rural areas are within 1-2% of each other. Otherwise rural stores are the most expensive.

  • FoolIggy

Governments under folks like King O want ALL to live in a few cities, like Chicago, New York, LA, Dallas, etc.

These large cities can hide CORRUPTION and GREED that serves a few while swamp rat politicians work to BUY THE VOTES of the cities underclass to build their generational power bases to feed the corruption and crime that they control!

Doesn’t make any difference what party affiliation you have, BOTH parties need to control and appease the masses to remain in power and control their votes.

By doing so, the wealth, power, greed, and political corruption can be controlled by the ruling party as they take turns swaying the voters to and fro while ultimately PROVIDING nothing in return except more rhetoric!

At some point, the system MUST COLLAPSE and reset or anarchy will be the result when enough of the voter base becomes disenchanted with the corrupt system!

Make no mistake, this doesn’t even begin to take in the OUTSIDE world interference of those folks Warren Buffet calls “elephants” who will control the world to satisfy their power, greed, and lust for control!

Hell of a world we are leaving for our grandchildren but not sure it has changed much except for the amount of information and rhetoric now available.

“It is well and good that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning ” Henry Ford.

If you’ve never read the scathing indictment of Fed Res. Given by a true Statesman, Louis T McFadden, on June 10,1932 you should.

If you’re thinking the blame only be shared by one party, you’re dead wrong.

Jerome Powell an Obama appointee, promoted by this administration. Is now the head of the Fed Res.
Jerome like his counterpart Janet Yellen is Council on Foreign Relations member.
    Absolute collusion.

    • TexanForever

      true dat

  • Let’s be honest, all of this is a direct result of the Dim elected Marxist’s policies of “Transforming America”!
This is evidence of the failed leftist policies of the Dim party and the very reason the party collapsed.
    America rejected them in chorus.

    • HarryObrian

It’s the de-education system coupled with the welfare system; keep them dumb and feed them krap.

      • TexanForever

… don’ forgit uh free cell phone like duh one ‘Bamma gimme.
        .

      • Harvey Gamel

this is the agenda of both major parties…

        • HarryObrian

You’re right, anything that hasn’t changed or even been mentioned to be changed is the result of both parties, better known as the uniparty..

  • Ed L

When (a matter of time) the electrical grid crashes the cities will die and rural community’s will survive

    • Sane_Person37

      They’d sure have a better chance !

    • HarryObrian

Hmm? Maybe they’re broke because ammo is expensive.

    • Ruth Traver

Wow…..I’m not the only one who thinks our Electrical Grid could disappear in a matter of minutes. You rock Ed L.

  • No Mas

The Obama demonrat agenda was to bankrupt America and remake it into the Venezuelan dictator version with ISLAM replacing Christianity on US soil…
Trump policy will give all looking for jobs an opportunity, this is what America is about… OPPORTUNITY! Those who refuse to work will continue in poverty… nobody that is able should be propped up by others that work for opportunity.

    • landy fincannon

Let’s not overlook Jerome Powell, the Obama appointee. Promoted by the current administration to head up the Fed Res.

Jerome like his predecessor Janet Yellen are Council on Foreign Relations members.

      Collusion?

      • No Mas

Federal Reserve is another powerful entity that does not answer to Congress, and must be reigned in under US oversight!

        • landy fincannon

          You’re absolutely right.
I’m afraid the message sent that fateful day in November, in Dallas, hasn’t been lost on anyone.

        • HarryObrian

I’m still waiting for Trump’s campaign promise to audit the FED but ever since last February, when some woman from government came out and said that Trump was a fast learner of the ways of Washington DC, that FED thing has disappeared, along with obviously a few other promises…

          • No Mas

your hatred reeks. trump is doing a heck of a job despite, US govt parasites, lamescream media and rinos sucking the life from Americans,.,,, Trump will turn out to be greatest POTUS since George Washington…. lol sleep on that…. lol

          • Harvey Gamel

            Washington owned slaves…

          • KMA

So did many others of that era…your point???

          • Harvey Gamel

They aren’t heros to be held up for adulation and praise….

          • KMA

You have your opinion, in which I disagree with and I have mine.
My forefathers will ALWAYS be heroes!

          • HarryObrian

Calm down, I didn’t say he was doing a bad job, he’s just not doing the ‘real’ country changing stuff.

          • Letmesay

You are a very silly man and very facetious.

          • Ruth Traver

President Trump has already in just one year fulfilled more campaign promises than any president in US history. In my lifetime ( 74yr’s ) I have noticed that other President’s never bring up campaign promises and if they do they blame lack of action on Congress and Senate ” bla bla bla ” you name it! They’ve done nothing in my lifetime. JFK was the only one who had a real agenda and we all know how that ended. I pray for Trump everyday because he’s surrounded by enemies. Short of having a magic wand he can’t do it all at once. I think he’s amazing and what he’s been able to achieve is amazing.

          • HarryObrian

Not going to argue that point, just appears he is missing the big ones…

          • Johnny G.

Prior to President Trump’s election (yea!!) I held President Ronald Reagan as my all -time most greatest president. Even the “gipper” would be proud of President Trump!
