Washington, D.C. – Trey Yingst, OAN Chief White House Correspondent
President Trump is traveling to Wisconsin on Tuesday to visit the headquarters of Snap On Inc. While there, he will sign a major executive order that directs federal agencies to enforce H-1B visa laws and calls for a review of federal purchasing practices.
The ‘Buy American, Hire American’ order is the latest domestic policy issue that President Trump is hoping to address through executive action.
According to a Senior Administration Official at the White House, this executive order is part of the President’s ‘America First’ plan.
The White House indicated that the review of federal purchasing practices will eventually lead to further action by the President to encourage the purchase of American goods for federal projects. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross will deliver the results of the review to President Trump in 220 days.
“Buy American is the Trump Administration’s highest priority when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars,” the official said.
The hire American portion of the bill will direct the Trump administration to identify and close loop holes in the H-1B visa program that don’t prioritize American workers.
President Trump is expected to return to Washington after signing the executive order.
