The head of Puerto Rico’s electric power authority is stepping down amid questions about the island’s slow repairs following Hurricane Maria. Ricardo Ramos resigned Friday, just days after the governor declared power had been restored to 50 percent of the island.
The White House is expected to ask Congress for another round of hurricane aid funds. The $45 billion request will likely come down sometime Friday as Puerto Rico, Texas, and Florida continue to deal with the aftermath of a deadly storm season.
