President Trump sends his thoughts to the people of Japan, as the country struggles to recover from the worst flooding in decades. In a tweet Saturday, the president said ‘our prayers are with those affected by the floods, and commended the rescue efforts.’ He also offered his condolences to those who have been injured in the disaster, as well as those who have lost loved ones.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrives in Japan after wrapping up two days of talks with senior officials in North Korea. On Saturday Pompeo briefed reporters about his time in Pyongyang saying, progress was made “on almost all of the central issues” but there’s still more work to be done. The secretary of state said, he spent “a good deal of time” talking about a denuclearization timeline and missile facilities.
