Florida Senator Marco Rubio is continuing his efforts to protect Venezuelans here in the U.S.

According to reports, Rubio wrote a letter back in March asking then DHS Secretary John Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to extend temporary protected status for Venezuelans.

This comes as the South American country battles an ongoing political, economic, and humanitarian crisis under the regime of President Nicolas Maduro.

The move suggested by Rubio would conflict the president’s immigration policies, but would be consistent with the administration’s rebuke of Maduro.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced a Venezuelan was plotting to assassinate Rubio who is a vocal opponent of the Maduro regime.

No thank you Marco. It is time politician works for the taxpayers that elected them rather than immigrants her in the country illegally or otherwise.

  • ken

how about we move all them in your house and you support them ruby idiot

  • Letmesay

    Rubio…go away.

  • Jesse

Most venezuelans I know are law abiding people, they came to this country with valid visas, they didn’t jump the wall. They are professionals such as doctors, nurses, petroleum engineers, etc.
I don’t mind to grant TPS to law abiding immigrants, fleeing a communist regime.

  • Jorge Sedais

I support letting them stay until the situation in Venezuela improves….but they must register with Homeland Security to extend validity of their entry visas. If they entered the US illegally, they get treated the same as any other illegal immigrant.

  • Rich FSr

This Latino weasel just don’t get it. We are his constituents not foreign nationals. Rubio is showing his stripes.

    • Jake

I get it- total isolationism and let the rest of the world go to heck in a hand basket. This Sunday, put on a hard hat and attend some church. If they don’t kick you out, it’ll do you some good.

      • Rich FSr

NOBODY is talking about “isolation” dipstick. What we are talking about is America for Americans. It’s time idiots like you woke up and saw what’s going on in this country. Nobody speaks English anymore. Can’t find a decent paying job because it’s easier for companies to employ “cheap” foreign labor. All this labor does is ship money out of the country to family back home instead of invest it in America. They owe no allegiance to the U.S. and contribute very little. Many come here and end up on social services. They are also taking public and senior housing away from citizens and especially senior citizens. YOU have no clue. YOU are the problem not the solution.

        • Jake

          >>NOBODY is talking about “isolation” dipstick. What we are talking about is America for Americans.<>Nobody speaks English anymore.<< ok, now I'm confused.
I'M the problem! Wow, what a responsibility, hope I'm ready for it.

          • Rich FSr

It’s called common sense “Einstein”. A country cannot survive when it no longer has an identity. Europe is a good example of this. European countries have joined into one Union for a few decades and no longer have individual national pride. Being torn apart by “Union” dictates of economic policies, immigration requirements and anti-nationalism. Trying to create the One World Order. Some countries like France and Sweden are becoming 3rd world nations full of Muslims forced upon them, much of which don’t speak the national language or work. You like that? I suggest you move there. Everything going on there is directly related to Marxist ideology on how to destroy a country. And the NWO is trying to push it here.

  • R A.

If they’re here legally, well, I guess ok.
    If not, then NOT ok.
    Never cared for Rubio.
    Swamp Rat

    • Rich FSr

Even legally they are not welcome. We have been inundated with millions of illegals and foreign “refugees” as it is. We cannot sustain this influx of under educated, poor health, low skilled people at the rate they’ve been coming. Neither our employment capabilities or social services can support such individuals.

      • Jake

Seriously, you need to get to church- you’re getting way too cranky. The milk of human kindness has turned to sour cream inside you.

  • Serge

Yeah! We are so soft hearted! Screw our homeless people, screw Texans who lost their homes and have no jobs. All poor Venezuelans are welcome here on a taxpayer dime! Bravo Rubio! You are true anti-American Senator!

    • DV

I don’t see where it says illegal Venezuelans anywhere. I read this as Venezuelans whose visa has expired and going home would mean death. Maduro would say they were US spies. Squirming minds think that way.

      • Serge

If there is so much threat in your home country, and you want to survive in America, come here and work! Make your livings and stay. What I strongly oppose is the government support to “refugees”. They create only parasites with this policy.

        • DV

Can you read? It doesn’t say refugee either. Could be tourist visa or family visa. Your attitude and a lot others here is no different than the heartless hate the libtards have. Stop and take a break. If it is illegals or refugees then so be it. Otherwise stop with yours and other tha hate mongering. Kill this shoot that bomb them…the rhetoric is getting beyond stupid. Everybody cries about the left but some here act no different.

          • Serge

Help to homeless Americans on the streets, and then turn yourself to help anybody else.

          • DV

Really? They are already here and need immediate action. If they are here illegal deport most rikitik. Homelessness, which a lot prefer to be homeless, has been here forever. I don’t see how one relates to the other. Vets especially prefer homelessness over hostice living. Maybe have a conversation with one sometime. A lot of the others are 5150 and the ACA doesn’t cover that.

      • ken

duh there from Venezuelan which means there not Americans which means there illegal just like the Mexicans from mexico

        • DV

          😳 WOW

      • Ray

Expired visa means get it renewed or leave; if you stay without renewal you’re illegal.

        • DV

Correct. Rubio is asking for an extension so they won’t be in illegal status. I know the process. Hater rhetoric without knowledge is rampant on this site. Un American attitudes. Break the law then punishment is due. Using the system for legit humanitarian needs is legal. Simple minded fools are all about kill shoot deport….asinine.

          • Ray

Not sure why you think hater rhetoric is rampant on this site. The majority of posts I see here are pro-American, pro-Constitution, pro-law abiding, and anti-Antifa.

          • DV

You have to not be reading everything. There are as many unhinged idiots on both sides. I believe in the American Constitution, law abiding etc. But to call out death or whatever because it doesn’t match someone’s personal agenda isn’t American. It radical period.

          • Ray

You are describing “Antifa”, and I agree.

          • DV

Those fools are cowards. I’m talking about calls for war, killing because you don’t agree, hating immigrants or tourists. Read it all here…EXTRAEXTRA

    • Jake

You’re over-reaching here, Serge. Rubio’s not saying screw anybody; he’s recognizing that there are some people who really need help thru circumstances beyond their control, and we can help them. Besides, that’s no way to talk about our next President after Trump.

      • Serge

Yes, maybe I am overreacting. But I also do not trust anyone who was elected on a TEA party tide, and then switched the sides joining the Gang of Eight. Rubio to me became nothing but another Latino opportunist like many of his other Latino leftists, including Daniel Ortega.

        • Jake

Politics makes strange bedfellows, I don’t think any politician can 100% stay on course, Trump included. I know just the basics on the gang of 8, and didn’t understand it, but can you throw him over board on one offense? And if so, who’s left?

  • Deny

Rubio really likes cutting his own throat doesn’t he? Illegal is illegal little Marco and that goes for Venezuelans too!

Next time PLEASE don’t re-elect that fool Florida!

    • ken

every body lets drain the swamp and vote out every one of these crooks in Washington that cares more about people breaking the law that they do about us that makes up there way over the top pay check

    • Jake

Um, guys, if they change the policy then they will no longer be illegal. And pick your battles- this is going to sound racist, but I think your typical Venezuelan who is escaping that country will be a very productive occupant here, and will no doubt want to return when Venezuela kicks out the socialists. The Mexicans crossing the border are a different story. I know, I know….. not all.

  • Diane Coto

I’m having an issue with ‘open borders’ of all forms. Many in Congress seem to believe we can absorb a limitless number of refugees, etc without impacting the middle class in our own country.

  • Bagman182

Someone remind him that his constituents are American citizens in Florida, not Illegal Aliens from Venezuela!

  • turnipweed

We’ve had enough refugees and breaking and entering at the border. Let Mexico and Canada take their share.

    • Rosicrucian32

Yeah, Mexico won’t even take the criminals back that they sent us. Canada, I was hoping they would take the pro-Clinton refuges but that didn’t work out too well. Whoopie, Alec Baldwin, and all their lefty friends are still whining in the land of free speech.

      • ken

hey I thought those gollywood idiots were leaving if trump got elected still here I see, lies just like there buddy hillary

  • Rosicrucian32

So his immense protective detail did not prevent him from being fearful of a death threat? Or is it just an excuse for him to circumvent the POTUS’ immigration initiative while he is holding hands with McConnel, McCain, and Flake and use the threat as an excuse?
The Butt hurt is strong in those who ran in the primaries and lost. They are all taking their shots at the POTUS goal now as if it was unattended.
