OAN Newsroom

New reports claim Arizona Senator John McCain will miss the upcoming tax vote due to ongoing health issues.

CBS reported Sunday that McCain is returning to Arizona after spending several days in a Maryland hospital, as he continues to suffer from side effects from chemotherapy treatment.

McCain who was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year and was expected to vote yes on the upcoming Senate tax vote.

However, republicans appear to still have the votes necessary to pass the sweeping bill.

  • Roy Beane

Well, looks like McCain is circling the drain a lot sooner and faster than he thought, it would seem.

  • Scott Vance, CPA, CGMA

he is was and will always be useless to WE THE PEOPLE He just followed in his daddy’s footsteps look up the Vietnam story of the naval personnel killed to further Admiral McCain’s agenda.

  • Pezgun

But if the vote looks close, he’ll be winging it to DC again like last time.

  • Rodney Kerns

You cant make decisions for the American people with brain cancer. What is wrong with people. He should have stepped down immediately.

  • Bobby Green

He went to the hill to purposely show people a thumbs down on health care. Now he’s using the excuse that his health problems prevent him from voting on the biggest tax break in history. What a loser he is. He was a loser when he was in the service and now he’s a loser as a senator.

  • Bob Ritthsler

Please retire for yourself, your family, and America.

  • Libhunter

Folks read about the “Song Bird of Hanoi” that is all you need to know about that TRAITOR!

  • AlexanderYpsilantis

McCain making it all about him, just like always. He’s seen the finished Bill, he could vote YES now-but he’d rather play the center of attention right to the last second. And for those of you who are going to say, ‘He has brain cancer, you should be more understanding….’, my late brother passed away from Glio Blastoma in March of this year-the same cancer McCain has. I know all about it and I’m sympathetic, but he doesn’t need to be a jerk right up until the end.

  • Harold Swift

Good. At least it won’t be a NAY. He should turn his seat over to one who can perform.

  • Gary Wilkins

McCain just being the RINO he is.

  • AshJonson

Planned. Die already you POS McCain! Annnnnd I have no sympathy for the Assshat! He earned his stay in hell!

  • scrumsey

Even that idiot John Conyers knew when it was time go go. McCain is the poster boy for term limits, and I view him as a back-stabbing traitor.

  • William Thompson

Probably a good thing since he is a RINO and tends to vote with the Democrats on everything.

  • thecleaner45

He s never done anything for anyone but himself. He needs to be put out since he not capable of doing anything. He’s always been a waste to tax payers.

  • JustThinkLogically

A vote against the interests of the American people and McCain gets out of a hospital bed but not for anything that helps America.

  • Daniel Shays

I think this means he’s a goner. Better late than never.

  • Tado

    Quo Vadis?
    Soon to rot.
    Soon to putrefy.
    It’s Nature’s way.

  • Captain America

This fool needs to go. He’s been sucking off the system for far too long, and doing it at the expense of America…AND at the expense of Americans he was supposed to be protecting and supporting. I doubt he can even function in his current role; he should be replaced!

  • Tado

    Tax Cut or Death?
(Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death)
    Latest Poll:
    DEATH !!!

  • Robert Adams

RINO knows how to keep the bill from fruition. He’ll be up and about the day after the vote. Put him out to pasture.

Time for AZ. to remove him, and replace him with a solid Conservative… ARPAIO!

  • charlie

Let somebody that can and will do the job, have it!!!

  • Todd Browning

    How convenient.

  • Gail

I’m curious as t why John McCain is competent to vote on any thing. He has a glioblastoma of the brain and that effects reasoning, personality and he rest. McCain must be the only person on the face of the earth with this cancer that is competent – WOW!

  • Andrew Moore8

I can only hope it is a slow and very painful death with lots of suffering…..

  • Marilyn

Sen McCain I am not a fan of yours but I pray that get well soon and hopefully by some miracle you go and vote yes

  • J. Waltam

I wonder how many people died because of this “statesman’s” actions during his political tenure.

  • Jayson Casavant

Disrupting our agenda to the bitter end…

    • weasel1886

I’m sure he got cancer just for this reason

  • tully bascomb

I can imagine the same amount of sympathy (lacking of) for McCain that Benedict Arnold received upon his death.

    • Rufus Firefly

You compare a decorated hero to a traitorous general?

      • Andrew Moore8

A traitor who did a tokyo rose propaganda tape while a pow selling out his own servicemen and country….if you want to call that a decorated hero then it only proves one thing…..that you are an idiot….

        • Brad

Rufus is a democrap idiot, anyone who supports killer traitor Killary is dumber than a old rooted out stump. He wouldn’t know a hero if it bit him in the ass

      • Captain America

No decorated hero, just a Daddy’s Boy that rode off the coattails of people in his family MUCH greater than him!

        • Rufus Firefly

I don’t recall that his daddy was in the cockpit with him or in prison.

  • Expat47

We knew this was coming! RINO!

  • tophat1984

All questions about McCain’s questionable loyalties aside, why does a guy having regular brain-surgeries have any say-so over another persons life, much less the entire country’s?

    • Rufus Firefly

Why did a guy that conspired with a foreign government become our *president in January?.

      • Andrew Moore8

He became YOUR President…..and the russians had nothing to do with it….I on the other hand did because I voted for him.

        • Brad

          I voted for him

      • tophat1984

You mean the Muslim that conspired with his boyfriend from Canada and his pay-master from Turkey to get in back in 08?

        • Rufus Firefly

Nope. Your distortion of facts is unworthy of a reply.

          • tophat1984

So you replying to me proves the correctness of my facts, correct? 😉

      • Sheriff Bart

Because the other candidate was not a good choice for the country. Isn’t that the way it works?

      • Captain America

I voted for him, and will do so again in 2020!

        • Rufus Firefly

Good for you. You’ll have to write in his name, since by then he will be ineligible to hold public office.

          • Captain America

You Libs…concentrate on keeping your own house in order; don’t worry about ours. The only way you are able to win elections is by lying about our candidates (Moore and Trump). Your candidates, on the other hand, need 24/7/365 FAKE NEWS assistance to even get them on any normal person’s radar! Liberals really are a bunch of sicko’s (BLM, AntiFa, KKK, Socialists, etc.

          • Rufus Firefly

Maybe you should substitute a k for the second c.

          • Captain America

I’ll do the Liberal thing and get all my dead friends to vote for him also. Along with as many illegal aliens as I can find, I’ll promise them they won’t get deported… but ONLY if they vote for Trump! Takes ALL of Hillary’s supporters away ; )

    • Captain America

I only wish John McCain would have sexual misconduct allegations raised against him. Hey Gloria Allred… can you make that happen?!

      • tophat1984

Only if they were true. ‘Sex assault accusations are becoming a mud-slinging fad.

  • Rufus Firefly

You people and Trump are despicable. The man nearly gave his life for his country – and refused to be released from captivity before his brethren. He is more honorable and patriotic than Trump ever will be. I disagree with his political views, but would much rather have him as a real president than the Russian toady Trump.

  • survivor50

Some people do not know when to leave the stage.
McCain should have after his failed Presidential bid.
Now he’s diminished his stature to the point I’m ashamed to have served in country at the same time as him !
John, GO HOME ! Pass your last days with family and friends and cut this vengeance thing off !

    • weasel1886

What vengence thing? You people just can’t stand any dissent.

      • Brad

McCain go to your government spending sponsored rest home and take weasel with you!!!!

  • Linda Griffin

If he can’t do his job, he should resign.

  • Twinkle Toes

The ugly comments here are a bit much and I can guarantee God isn’t too happy with them either.

    • SaidNO2Liberalism

Agreed. The men who were betrayed by songbird will testify to that.

      • Rufus Firefly

Except there were none. That is a fabrication.

    • Daniel Shays

He’s 82 years old. There comes a time that life must end, and his time is now.

  • h whitney

    resign John McCain.
it’s the honorable thing to do.
if one can’t cut it then leave, and allow the governor to appoint someone who may vote to help Arizona’s people.
your staying on until the last gasp may meet your needs, but selfishly deprive Arizonans.

  • Twinkle Toes

Thank you very much for speaking up, I tried but you did one better than me. You are correct with everything you said.

  • Dakota

Some of you folks are fools I bet you wouldn’t say that to his face. Your hate will eat you alive

    • h whitney

the hate will die with McCain.

      • weasel1886

You will just find someone else to hate

  • Realpeople58

    Then quit you old b###turd.

  • Twinkle Toes

You just lowered yourself to the level of the liberals. I realize he has been a against President Trump but IMHO, we need to have compassion for this man who was a POW and has served his country as a Republican and now has brain cancer. He loves this country with is a whole lot more than we can say about Obama.

Personally, my prayers are with him for recovery and I hope he retires to enjoy his family.

I hope you will re-evaluate your comment.

    • looking write ?

Sorry, but he is part of the problem.

      • Twinkle Toes

Yes he is part of the problem.

      • Twinkle Toes

        You are right, he is.

  • Ralph Bowman

If every Senator is present and votes (like they claim they will), the result would by 52 Aye and 48 Nay. If McCain and Cochran are absent, wouldn’t the result be 50 Aye and 48 Nay. Absent is not a Nay vote. So why would there need to break a tie?

    • h whitney

majority vote is necessary for legislation to pass.

  • Fed Up !

Bye johnny songbird, don’t like the door hit you in the ass on your way to hell.

  • DrSheilahere

So. Now he does not have to vote! Does not have to be a Trump supporter! Can remain the anti-GOP. Ok. McCain you had ample time to leave with dignity. Now you are leaving as a Democrat-loving Congress-person in the sheep’s clothing as a GOP.

  • intimeforthedime

Will the Cancer please stand the F up and do its job for Dang Sakes!
That city is a town of bumms, even the cancer does a half aced job.

    • USAagainstGlobalists

Don’t worry, at least it moves faster than grandpa Sessions.

  • Dakota

There is enough votes without him. The guy has a brain tumor please show some respect. This type of bashing is why I hate social media respect his family and stop this, you folks need a lesson here the man is dying this is some sickening stuff you all are saying.

I don’t agree with his political views but that doesn’t mean it’s a free for all

    • Andrew Moore8

I can only hope it is a painful and suffering death….Mccain is a traitor to the people of this country and I couldn’t care less if he is on his death bed…..The people speak out now about him because he is reaping what he sowed.

  • Dakota

Your either part of the problem or the solution

  • Dakota

Really this is what you folks say about a dying man. God taught you better say a prayer for his family

    • American1

Which family? His first wife and children who he threw by the wayside? Its an interesting story. She was badly crippled and disfigured in an auto accident while he was a POW. She asked that no one let him know because she figured he had enough burden. When he returned home and saw her, he left for a model who’s father was heavy in GOP politics and very wealthy. Thats how McCain got his start. Nice guy. Needs more prayers than you know.

    • Andrew Moore8

Yup….that is exactly what I say about a dying traitor to this country….I should punch him in his face so his nose hurts as well.

  • despo

    Whatta real non-hero!

  • a voice of concern

worthless is as worthless does. This scum is going to his grave a hateful, spiteful bitter old man …

    • I’m Proud

  • AlexanderYpsilantis

If it were anyone else I’d say this was legit, but with John McCain I have to believe it’s one more effort to thwart the President’s Tax Reform Bill. I knew John McCain was petty, but until this last year I had no idea how petty he was. Utterly appalling.

    • h whitney

      there’s nothing petty about McCain.
his grandiosity is as metastatic as his tumors.

  • Scott Henke

And there goes the tax bill. Why can’t he cast it from Arizona or appoint a surrogate?

    • AlexanderYpsilantis

He’s cognizant enough to know he’s messing with passage of this bill. This is typical McCain, it’s all about him and always about him.

  • JustmJustm

    • h whitney

he should be cremated, and sent into the sun, preventing any of his chemical constituents from contaminating the rest of us.

      • Andrew Moore8

To late…it’s called the Demoncrapic socialist party.

  • All American

🙏🏻Prayers for John McCain and his family.
I may not agree with his choices but I am a Christian…

    • Twinkle Toes

Thank you for speaking up, I agree with you.

      • All American

I speak up and down vote those that begin to stoop to the level of the far left. Helps get their attention and possibly focus! (I hope…🙏🏻and pray)❤️

  • SpfldJimbo1

Lead, follow……or get out of the way (Senate).

  • Hans Pfall

How conven…oh wait, everyone here beat me to it!

Well then, I’ll just say “John, if you can’t do your job, resign and let the governor appoint someone who might actually not stab America in the back. Thanks.”

    • iwontell

      TOMORROW…….we can’t wait………….

  • sue

If you can’t do the job…. Get someone that can…
You are working for the people – RIGHT

  • McCain should have retired gracefully when the doctors said he has brain cancer. Staying on is ego, not statesmanship and a disservice to those he is supposed to represent. The governor should have another person in place who can do the job.

    • JustmJustm

It’s not even disservice to the voter, he IS LOST TOUCH WITH THE VOTER AND THE REAL REALITY !!

      • mo

This rat has always served himself.

    • h whitney

      staying on is entitlement.
he was taken care of by government his entire life.
he is the poster boy for socialism.

  • J. Waltam

Wonder if “Grampa Munsters'” gonna make it through 2017?

    • All American

  • Theo Stall

IF YOU CAN’t DO THE JOB–STEP ASIDE YOU SLIME!!, let the Ariz Governor appoint a Senator. Perfect pick would be Joe Arpaio!!

    • Tado

I’d die chicken for that to happen.
      Senator Joe Arpaio.
      Sexual Misconduct.
      Any history?

    • kaiju

That’s what pompous a** this guy is. He always has thought it’s all about him.

    • tengelbr

Arpaio would be nice but isn’t he like 86 years old now?

  • JL Ziegler

Brain surgery should exclude an opinion/vote. How can someone predict sound cognition after neurons in their brain have been damaged? Might even be proportional to smoking an oz. Who knows?

    • h whitney

when the tumor was excised from McCain’s brain,

      it thanked the surgeon.

      • Andrew Moore8

LOL that was a good one.

  • Just A Guy

Imagine that. How convenient. On his death bed and he’s still a fooking traitor.

    • Corey Crane

      What did they say

      • All American

How long does someone suffering from glioblastoma typically survive? About 16 months on average, Eugene Flamm, chairman of neurosurgery at Montefiore Hospital, told The New York Times.

        • Kathy

          My mother-in-law lasted 3 1/2 months.

        • AlexanderYpsilantis

My late brother passed away almost a year to the day it was diagnosed. And that with two operations to slow down the growth of the lesions. It’s pretty aggressive. I feel for McCain, but he needs to do his job or step aside. And my bro died at 58, what is McCain, 81?

          • All American

I totally agree with you ✌🏻
So sorry to hear of your Brother’s suffering it affects the entire family…

          • AlexanderYpsilantis

Thanks AA. Yeah, it’s tough. He was my best friend, thought we’d spend some time together in a few years when we both got to retirement. But lots of folks going through the same thing. He did maintain his integrity and character to the end, quite a contrast with Senator McCain. Or maybe this IS McCain’s character?

          • All American

Yes we do! Re: McCain -I think the later is correct! Take care Alexander✌🏻

      • Just A Guy

That you need to do some homework or troll somewhere else.

        • Twinkle Toes

Just like Corey Crane, I have not heard about crimes he has committed and I am not a troll, and I too, would like to know.

          • Mike

If you’re truly interested in what “crimes” the Senator has had himself involved with, read Sydney Schanbergs article on the American Conservative web site; “McCain and the POW Cover-up”. McCain is a liar, and he’s worked hard at it. Now go…

          • Andrew Moore8

Google “mccain tokyo rose propaganda tape” and you will hear mccain being a traitor to his fellow servicemen and to his country yourself….it has been released.

        • Libhunter

Folks let us not squabble, just look up “The Songbird of Hanoi” then everyone can make up their own minds.

      • Andrew Moore8

Google “mccain tokyo rose propaganda tape” and listen to it yourself.

        • Corey Crane

      • Sonny Shaw

What they said contradicted Senator McCain’s story.

        • Libhunter

    • Rufus Firefly

The only problem is that fellow prisoners never said such things. It was complete fabrication. And you would know that if you did some homework,

      • Andrew Moore8

Rufus, you are such an uneducated idiot it’s unbelievable you can remember to breath….It’s out there on google numb nut, all you have to do is search for “mccain tokyo rose propaganda tape” and you can hear him being a traitor to his fellow servicemen and to his country for yourself….Now run along princess and see if you are smart enough to find google.

      • Libhunter

2 of his fellow Hanoi Hilton crew when they came home to push Treason Charges against John they mysteriously died first. Look up the songbird of Hanoi & figure it out yourself, you do know his father & grandfather are revered Navy Admirals right?

        • Rufus Firefly

Why don’t you look it up and tell me the names of those men and McCain’s accusers.

    • Andrew Moore8

You can google “mccain Tokyo rose propaganda tape” and hear it for yourself.

    • Libhunter

Song Bird of Hanoi, look it up yourself, says this ole Army Infantryman, enlisted Vietnam Combat Veteran.

  • john smith

With any luck he’ll succumb to the health issues.

  • Kurtis Morin

Senator John McCain is a traitor. He should have been in prison not the Senate. Somehow this man keeps getting protected from his crimes. Crimes that have cost the lives of many true heros. At least they have saved a special place in hell for him.

    • Twinkle Toes

What kinds of crimes did he commit? I haven’t read of any.

  • “The” Bobguy

An absent is as bad as a “no” vote. You still need 51. This means, I believe, we need all but 1 Republican + Pence to get to 51. So …. who is going to be the holdout? Don’t count on any Democratic Senate member to vote for it.
