OAN Newsroom

President Trump is thanking China and Russia for helping pass increased sanctions on North Korea.

The White House released a statement on Saturday saying the president appreciates China and Russia’s cooperation in securing passage of the resolution.

Earlier that day, the UN Security Council unanimously voted to impose new sanctions on Pyongyang following its recent intercontinental ballistic missile tests.

The statement added the president and his administration will keep working with allies to increase pressure on North Korea to end its threatening behavior.

  1. Pres. Trump Thanks Russia For Passing China Their Part Of The Bribe Money To Help Pass Sanctions On N. Korea

A true leader….give credit when credit is due.

  3. Sadly, I don’t believe China and Russia will enforce and follow these sanctions, but I hope I’m wrong.

  4. This is a “first” – you don’t see China or Russia joining the rest of the world against Iran, Syria or North Korea. I would think it is in every country’s interest to stop North Korea – this mad man wouldn’t stop at one country’s annihilation – it would be a mad “march” forward – just like his predecessor Adolph Hitler.

Without substantial ongoing help, NK simply does not have the resources to sustain anything approaching even a regional offensive war. The current disruptive sanctions are not a full on embargo. There is still considerable sequential sanctions ramping up toward a full on embargo that can be employed to stymie that fool in Pyongyang. I just worry about the cornered rabid animal metaphor in this case…

  5. I just hope Trump didn’t give too much away.

With previous administrations, left and right, we’ve had to fill the coffers of those we need help from.

Hopefully, Trump read russia and cheena the riot act. Especially the chins. If anything had happened, it would have landed square in their lap.

  6. Thank you for your services!
Now, it’s North Korea’s turn to counter the trade embargo imposed by the U.N., clearly instigated by the USA.
Which state will probably be nuked first?

    • The first question is, do the North Koreans even know? I’m not sure they care. In WWII, the Japanese Emperor came up with the idea of the “fire balloons” that exploited the jet stream to carry explosives from Japan to our West Coast. Some people still run into them in the Pacific Northwest forests. Kim Jong Un may not care that much where his payloads go either, as long as they hit our continent.

    • It won’t be a state, it will be a city. I can only hope it’s San Francisco. Do the country a favor.

  7. More talk, no actions that NK will care about. Trumps taking lessons from Obama.

You registered an account just to spew that nonsense???? Stupid for long?

      • Actually I registered it just to upset you. Seems I achieved my goal. LOL

        • FreedomFighter | August 7, 2017 at 3:17 am |

Not even close. What you did was show your stupidity. Now I have another pet moron. LOLOLOL!!!! Imbecile.

Many Thanks to “Americas Awesome President Trump” and to the “Great World Leaders” who recognize the NK madman must be stopped before he destroys all of humanity.

    • Stop lionizing the fool(s).

      • Jack Woodburn | August 7, 2017 at 7:14 am |

The only fool is Kim who is apparently believing his own one TV channel propaganda. The world won’t need to bomb him into submission. It will “starve” him to death. Cut off ALL imports…raw materials for weaponry manufacturing and maintenance, food for his military, all sources of energy, etc. It’d take less than a year if done thoroughly…

  10. It’s strange to read some of these comments that think Trump’s comments were foolish. They were not.

Trump is being honest with his competition by saying they did the right thing. When he has to be mad at them, it will have more effect.

    • Agree! The “feckless ones” forget there are other activities between countries happening amidst the obvious conflicts. We have to depend on Russia to put our astronauts into space, they have all the control of whether these same astronauts come home. Countries can co-operate while at the same time having serious conflicts. The nasty and brainless comments the anti-Trumpers make show their ignorance and dangerous stupidity.

  11. Yea thanks for finally helping when you said you were doing all you could already

Oh snaps, according the democraps this will be considered “Colusion”.

  13. Hit China right in the pockerbook – it’s the only thing they will understand. The love of mammon.

    • You’re not kidding. The Chinese (and Russian) Communists spent seventy years, more or less, denouncing us as money-loving capitalists. Until they got the chance to have personal fortunes, then they went even further than us down that road.

      • Jack Woodburn | August 7, 2017 at 7:21 am |

That, in turn, provides the West considerable economic leverage. Greed has befallen many an empire rhroughout history. But, frankly, it could well doom the capitalists of the USA as well. Globally, it is generally accepted that central banks have tapped out their economy stabilizing tools…the global economy remains a very fragile house of cards.

  14. Uh oh…time to start a China collusion investigation. 😉

        White Leftist American. Judge.
        That’s Entertainment.

    • NK ought to be worried. The last time President Trump sat down with China, he sent off a few dozen tomahawks.

      • SK ought to be worried, too.
Seoul is a few missile-minutes from NK.
        However, It should not fret.
THAAD will shield SK from all NK missiles 100%.
        That’s the American Dream!

        • Jack Woodburn | August 7, 2017 at 7:02 am |

THAAD does nothing ro stop a rain of artillery shells…that’s the real damage threat, not missiles.

          • Sane_Person37 | August 7, 2017 at 7:37 am |

Last I heard 100,000 shells in the first 5 minutes, including chemical/bio weapons.

    • HarryObrian | August 6, 2017 at 4:13 pm |

Sanctioning NK???? WTF is that, starving more innocent hungry people? Just pay some of Kim’s men to off him and be done with it OR have Rodman do it for a Bball contract. All this posturing is just more political BS.

      • That’s how America “lured” Japan in WWII.

        • Jack Woodburn | August 7, 2017 at 7:08 am |

NK doesn’t have the resources for an extensive “WWIII” initiative…or even a regional skirmish of any length of time. They can’t eat ammunition…their enemies will starve them into submission if a few well targeted MOABs don’t.
